Cancellation of Skills Canada National Competitions 2020

Skills Canada National Skills Competitions in Vancouver Cancelled in Response to COVID-19 Outbreak.



Moncton, New Brunswick, March 16, 2020: It is with great regret that Skills Canada New

Brunswick announces the cancellation of the upcoming Skills Canada National Competitions, set to take place May 27th – 30th in Vancouver, British Columbia. This decision was made in light of the current COVID-19 outbreak which has been deemed a Global Pandemic.


At this time, mass gatherings are strongly discouraged by Health Canada and Public Health

Authorities across the country. It is Skills Canada’s responsibility to take active measures in

ensuring the organization is maintaining its stake as a responsible global citizen.


“We understand the severity of the COVID-19 outbreak and will act in accordance with recommendations outlined by health officials. This decision was not easily made however the health and safety of our competitors and the community is our top priority,” says John Landry, President of the Board.

This announcement follows the decision to cancel the Skills Canada New Brunswick Provincial Competitions with the majority set to take place on April 24th at the CCNB Bathurst.
